Terms of use

Classroom Noise Meter is a free educational convenience tool. By using it, you agree to use its relative visual feedback responsibly and in accordance with applicable school policies.

Relative measurement only

The displayed level is not a calibrated sound-pressure-level or certified decibel measurement. It must not be used for hearing-safety compliance, workplace monitoring, diagnosis, legal evidence or any situation that requires certified equipment or professional judgment.

Classroom decisions remain with the teacher

The visual signal is a classroom-management aid, not an assessment of a student or a substitute for supervision. Teachers should choose settings appropriate for the activity, students, room and accessibility needs. Do not use the tool to shame, single out or punish an individual.

Availability and device differences

The tool is provided as available without a guarantee that every browser, school network, microphone or device policy will support it. Results vary with microphone hardware, placement, room acoustics and browser processing.

Acceptable use

Do not interfere with the service, attempt to bypass security controls, misrepresent its relative signal as a certified measurement, or use it in a way that violates privacy, education or employment rules.

Feedback and moderation

Feedback must relate to the tool and must not include student names, school identifiers, spam, advertising, harassment, personal contact details or another person's private information. Submissions are reviewed before publication. We may approve, reject or remove a comment at our discretion. Submitting feedback does not guarantee publication.

Changes

The tool and these terms may change as compatibility, teaching feedback and privacy requirements evolve. Material changes will be reflected by the updated date on this page.
